One to watch: halal food

There’s been some great coverage ahead of this weekend’s Halal Food Festival, in the Independent and in the Guardian. They’ve used some big stats about consumption of halal meat and the growing Muslim population to help explain the idea behind the event, as well as highlighting some of the barriers that prevent Muslims from fully immersing themselves in the whole foodies/gourmet scene.

Props to the organisers for coming up with the word ‘haloodies’ – halal foodies.

The Guardian asks:

Guardian halal

And here’s The Independent:

Independent halal

There’s lots to say and find out about this (quite controversial and technical in some ways) so here are the articles, as a starting point for anyone who wants to know more:

The Guardian

The Independent

Thanks to Ruby for the spot.
