TNBT: sweet/savoury cupcakes

I posted about the trend towards unusual cupcakes and sweet/savoury combo desserts back in June 2011 and now there are signs that savoury cupcakes are gathering pace.

1 – international flavours mashed up with standard sweet cupcakes

Check out these bad boys:

2 – cheesy cupcakes

Cathedral City has signed up Liz McClarnon (she’s a Celebrity MasterChef winner) to come up with some savoury cupcakes using their cheese, like Cathedral City Mature Butternut Squash [bleurgh] and Chilli Cupcakes.

Interesting that National Cupcake Week (17-23 Sept) is followed by British Cheese Week (22-30 Sept).

And finally… remember the chocolate mashed potato cupcake from the start of this year?
