Word of the day: Brandalism

Brandalism: vandalising brand campaigns.

Campaign has reported on a guerilla campaign by six international artists who have been postering over brands’ advertising to “challenge the destructive impacts of the advertising industry”.

They’re targeting brands sponsoring the big sport event in London this year.

There’s also ‘self-brandalism’, where brands ‘vandalise’ their own ads. Go Compare have been doing this with their latest adverts – and it sort of work.
