Lots of cool car and tech innovation at European exhibitions this week.
1 – World’s first pedestrian airbag (Volvo V40)
The new Volvo V40 was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this week, complete with an exterior airbag designed to minimise injuries to pedestrians who are hit by the car. As far as I can tell, it only protects you if you’re hit by the front of the car, but it’s a start!

2 – Shrinking car
Over at the Cebit trade fair in Hanover, Germany, the German Robotics Innovation Centre was showing off its EO Smart Connecting Car, a car which has small engines in each of its wheels, so there’s no need for a bonnet. There’s no boot either.
It’s got a flexible undercarriage, so it literally shrinks at the touch of a button. You can also connect up to TWENTY of them, like a train.
