TNBT: mind-controlled films and gaming (MyndPlay)

MyndPlay is “the world’s first mind-controlled media player and platform” – control the outcome of a movie with your mind, kind of.

It’s a piece of kit that allows you to interact with games and video through the power of your mind.

Seems to have been a round for a while, including coverage on BBC Click, but it featured in the first episode of Channel 4’s Home of the Future last night (brilliant coverage for the brand and a clear, simple explanation of how it works – around 17:00) and is on today’s Springwise email.

Tre Azam from The Apprentice is behind the UK operation – looks like it might be a sort of franchise operation.

Here’s how it works:

You put on an EEG (electroencephalograph) headset, which detects/measures brain activity (focus and relaxtion).

These readings are transmitted to the media player and determine the scenes/plot outcomes you see.

Obviously, it’s a lot more complicated than that.

You can also make and upload your own movies to the MyndPlay website.

Apparently, the company has been approached by Disney. One to watch?

Tre sounds like he’s just reading a list of long words and techno-jargon, but the promo video might help to explain how it works:
