Jumbo Stay

In the words of the deputy manager; “a supercool idea“.

Jumbo Stay has to be one of the coolest hotels in Europe. A Boeing 747 has been converted into a hotel, based on a disused runway at Stockholm airport.

Most of the rooms look small, fairly basic (it did originally position itself as a hostel – there’s a shared bathroom for most of the rooms) and comfortable (based on the pictures, not first-hand experience), but the cockpit and back of the plane have some really cool-looking rooms.

As well as some great, simple, modern design (check out the cafe), they’ve kept loads of the original features.

Brilliant idea and execution from the man behind it all, Oscar Diös.

Watch this video for a mini tour of the hotel (the music is a bit annoying):

And here’s another unexpected hotel made from something old/disused:

Tubohotel, Mexico
