TNBT: Mini desserts

We saw mini desserts mentioned as an upcoming food trend back in January and now a major ice cream brand has just launched some mini cake/ice cream bites in America.

Baskin-Robbins, “the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty stores”, has brought out its amazing sounding Cake Bites. Here’s how they describe them in the press release:

“Cake Bites – a new taste extravaganza that combines both ice cream and cake in a single serving.  These beautifully presented mini desserts are covered with indulgent ganache and finished with a decorative drizzle of either chocolate or caramel.  Cake Bites cost $2.99 individually or are $9.99 for a mix-n-match 4-pack and are available in the following four flavors; Double Chocolate, Praline Caramel, Chocolate Mint, and Vanilla Blondie. Cake Bites can be purchased individually or in customizable packages of four.

USA Today describes it as part of a “maxi-trend toward mini-desserts”, citing Starbucks and Entenmann’s as brands which have already brought out their own varieties.

Hope to see something like this from Baskin-Robbins or Häagen-Dazs over here soon!
