One to watch: Corn Again

More posh popcorn (poshcorn?) is being put on shelves, but it’s still not become mainstream. I posted in February about this emerging trend, but it hasn’t taken off yet.

A consumer PR push might help it get people’s attention, but it will take something big for it to become big.

The latest addition is Corn Again‘s 40g snack size bags. Bit expensive, with an RRP of £1.09, but the Chilli and Lime flavour sounds really good. The brand positioning seems to be spot on – ‘popcorn reinvented’. On Twitter, Corn Again describes itself as “The UK’s first artisan producer of hand-made gourmet popcorn.”

A few more kernels still need to pop before fancy popcorn is ready to be a major player in the snack market, but Pret a Manger is doing a good job of making it an alternative to crisps. Let’s see where this one goes.
