Films like The Expendables and Piranha 3D, etc, have been around for a few months now, but two upcoming movies are tipped to be the start of a wave of B-movies/spoofs/B-movie spoofs.
First featured as a fake trailer in Quentin Taratino and Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse double bill in 2007, Robert Rodriguez has made it into a full feature film, starring Robert de Niro, Don Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez (and Jeff Fahey from Lost) and Lindsay Lohan (?!). It looks like an out’n’out guns’n’knives-fest that doesn’t take itself too seriously. This is set to be a big movie at the end of the year. Rodriguez’s Mariachi trilogy was brilliant and Machete stars Danny Trejo and Cheech Marin from Desperado – should be a good one!
UK release date: 26 November
Whilst The Twilight Saga carries on milking money from the cashcow that is teenage girls, Vampire Sucks takes the p!$$ out of the whole franchise and the obsession with vampires (seen all three Twilights, but still don’t get it…).
UK release date: 15 October
